The individual fulfilling the role of Business Development Consultant (“BDC”) will report to the directors and be primarily responsible for the management of the New Business pipeline. The New Business pipeline is the current state of all inbound enquiries received by InTouch and remain neither closed nor signed up as clients. This will include “following up” of all inbound enquiries and regular reporting in a manner to be determined between the BDC and the board.
(1) New Business Pipeline
The BDC will be responsible for following up by telephone or email all inbound enquiries. The BDC will also be responsible for the production, distribution and maintenance of the new customer literature up to the point of issuing letters of engagement. This will include all pre-sales aids, and materials designed solely for “potential” clients, such as email marketing and list building campaigns.
(2) Competitor Awareness
In order to be able to handle certain objections the BDC will have internal responsibility for being “competitor aware”. Regular reporting is required on identified competitors, new entrants to the market, competitive messages and USPs. The BDC will also be responsible for the monitoring of prices and services of the main competitors
(3) Training & Coaching
Some elements of basic training and coaching are to be provided by the BDC to the Client handlers. Mainly this is expected to be in the area of closing enquiries, objection handling, benefit promotion.
(4) Outbound Activity and list building
The BDC will be responsible for responding to, and following up, visitors to the website who have downloaded assets, or using embedded calculator “tools”. This will include live chat offers and following up the contact details captured.
(5) New Channels
The business has plans for expansion into new channels, including an affiliate plan with identified introducers. The commencement of this function will involve the BDC.
(6) PR & Marketing assistance
The BDC will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues in the marketing team and will write non technical copy, proof read technical documents (prepared by others) for consistency of tone, grammatical accuracy and suitability as a sales promotion tool. Other marketing activities can be anticipated such as blogging, social media content, and the preparation of briefs for web designers.
